ECCE Research Groups

The rationale for our research is tightly coupled with our teaching philosophy of holistic education that is focused on training engineers prepared to face the multifaceted and global nature of the problems and opportunities that abound in today's complex world, problems in health, energy and the environment. The multidisciplinary nature of these issues dictate an approach that is solidly grounded in good engineering practice and rigorous science. The department has five major research groups:

• Biomedical Engineering
• Communication Systems and Networks
• Instrumentation and Control
• Energy and the Environment
• The Ateneo Innovation Center is the venue for multidisciplinary research between ECCE, other SOSE departments as well as industrial partners.

Projects and Collaborations

The department also engages industry, government and foreign and domestic research institutions in high impact collaborative R&D projects and research. Through the Ateneo Innovation Center , the ECCE department is leading the formation of an innovation ecosystem in the Ateneo de Manila University. These collaborative efforts include Clean Water Systems with Sunpower, industrial research with Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, WIPAS PROJECT (Japan Radio Co.), Next Gen Thermal Printer Project (Blue Chip Design), Post-Partners Satellite Communications Network (Japan Space Agency & ARIB), SMART-SWEEP network (PLDT-SMART), and Ateneo-PLDT Advanced Network Testbed (PLDT-SMART) and a Pan-Asia collaboration with TTC, NTT and NECTEC called the Share Project among others.
